News for IWU’s Campus

The Sojourn Athlete of the Week, presented by Amplify Media, is senior Chloe Taylor from the No. 14 Nationally ranked IWU Women’s Track and Field Program.

Taylor is a sprinter, specifically in the 200m, 400m, 4×4 relay team and recently javelin.

Taylor is originally from Upper Sandusky, Ohio, where she was homeschooled.

Taylor’s first introduction to college was during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

During last season’s Crossroad League Outdoor Championship, Taylor posted two personal records with a 26.34 second 200m and a 1:00.38 second 400m.

Taylor was also a qualifying member of the 4x400m relay for the NAIA National Championship as an alternate.

“It was a great experience to be able to train all of May and then to be at this stage,” Taylor said. “Then, to be able to cheer on my teammates, it was really great, but I’m an extremely competitive person so this year I really want to be on that 4×4 team.”

The 2023-2024 season has been solid for Taylor. She has posted a personal best of 1:01.73 in the 400m and a personal best in the javelin with 28.15m. Taylor has been a fierce and consistent competitor all season.

“This year, we were competing against girls that are extremely fast and it is pushing us to be faster,” Taylor said. “With me specifically, I am faster this year compared to where I was last year and the times I was running.”

The IWU women’s track and field team will compete next in the “Indiana Little State Championships” on Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20.
